How to Use a Waffle Maker – to Make Waffle
Make your waffle batter
There are two ways that you can prepare your desired waffle batter. The first one is making it from scratch with your secret and favorite recipe. The second way is using the already-made waffle boxed mix. We may recommend you our two favorite mix – Keto Waffle Mix and Krusteaz Waffle Mix – for your next shopping list.
Using either one depends on your time, your favorite, and your choice. Some people may argue that the boxed mix has a preservative agent that not good for their health, so they choose to make the batter themselves. Others believe that the manufacture is perfect with their secret recipe and claim to have no preservation.
Ingredients (6 servings)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons white or brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ¾ cups milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Using a big bowl, put the egg into and whisk it until fluffy. Then add the flour, milk, oil and mix them. Pour the sugar and mix again. Finally, add salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract into the mixture and whisk them.
- You can add extra flavor to your liking (cinnamon, almond…)
- Allow your batter to sit in for about 5 minutes.
Preheat the waffle maker
Put your waffle maker on the solid, flat, and dry surface, then plug it in. Depend on your waffle model, some will automatically turn on, while others have the button. Please pay attention to the indicator light (which most of the waffle iron will have). It will let you know when the device is ready for the next step.
Grease your waffle maker plates
When the waffle iron is heated up, grease your machine with butter, oil, or with a cooking spray – if needed. It means that for some models with non-stick plates, you can skip this step. Otherwise, you will only make it more sticker.
This step forward, your waffle maker is very hot already, so be careful with it.
Pour in the batter
Carefully add batter to the hot plate; usually, you will need from ¼ to ¾ cup of batter, depending on your model. Therefore, our recommendation is to read your machine’s manual instructions to have the perfect amount of batter to pour in. Using a plastic or wooden knife or spoon to even the batter.
Close the lid and let it cook
Close the lid of the waffle iron. Some machines will have advanced options for you to choose the outcome: light, medium, or brown – remember to set this. And let the machine do its job!
Suppose your machine has the indicator light to let you know when it is done – perfect. Otherwise, wait patiently. It will take about 5 minutes. Don’t open the lid too soon; you will break your breakfast. You can see the crack between the plates, and it will look solid when it is done.
Enjoy your product
Open the lid and take the waffle out with plastic, silicone, or wooden utensil. Avoid the sharp object as it will destroy your machine plates. Place the cake on the dish, add on your favorite topping – strawberry, syrup, cream cheese.. – and enjoy!
Clean the waffle maker
Remember to let the device completely cool out before cleaning and using a soft, damp tissue to clean the left-over batter. With those stubborn marks, use a bit of oil to remove them and clean with soft tissue or paper towel. Be careful not to use steel wool as it may damage your plates. If your machine has removable plates, remove them and clean them according to the manual instruction. Let your waffle maker dry out entirely before closing the lid and put it away.
